About CIHEAM Zaragoza
The Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (CIHEAM Zaragoza) is one of the four institutes of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM). Our activities focus on development cooperation to serve CIHEAM-member and third countries in the fields of agriculture, food, and fisheries, based on five strategic areas: sustainable food and agriculture systems; fisheries and aquaculture; water, soil and ecosystems; forest management; and territorial and inclusive development.
About the Role
CIHEAM Zaragoza is opening a vacancy for a specialist in sustainable fisheries management, marine aquaculture, and the blue economy with special interest in international affairs, particularly in countries of interest for development cooperation. The post of Administrator of Fisheries, Aquaculture and the Blue Economy reports directly to the head of the Training Unit.
Work location: CIHEAM Zaragoza, Avenida de Montañana, 1005, 50059 Zaragoza (Spain). The post requires availability to travel. Expected start date: September 2026.
Main Tasks

Management of master's programmes: Contributing to the design, coordination, monitoring, and quality assurance of master's programmes; managing institutional relations with universities, research centres and private sector organisations; promoting programmes; selecting lecturers and participants; administering scholarships; organising practical sessions and technical visits; providing academic and logistical support to students throughout both years of the programme.

Management of advanced courses: Contributing to the prospection of courses, partner institutions and experts; contributing to programme design; selecting lecturers; promoting courses; selecting participants; providing logistical support; managing administrative matters including visa and travel arrangements; supporting scientific coordinators and assisting during practicals.

Project management: Contributing to project prospection and drafting proposals; creating consortia; managing international research and innovation, technical assistance and development cooperation projects.

Knowledge-building and transfer: Participating in congresses, symposia, seminars, workshops, and other scientific and technical events and activities.

Information and communications management: Contributing to newsletters, publications, social media content, and communication and marketing plans for related activities.

In-house management: Supporting all activities within the Training Unit, including digitalisation, logistics and general administration.

Corporate initiatives: Contributing to corporate projects such as strategic planning and development of international partnerships.
Essential Requirements
- Undergraduate and master's degree in fields related to marine science, fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture and food, veterinary science.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English (minimum C1 level).
- At least 4 years of professional experience in academia, the private sector, or in other relevant roles related to sustainable fisheries management, marine aquaculture, and the blue economy.
Additional Assets
- PhD or doctoral studies.
- Proficiency in French and other languages.
- Working experience with international organisations.
- Experience in managerial or executive roles in public or private organisations.
- Scientific background (publications, thesis supervision, participation in scientific congresses), consultancy work.
- Experience in EU project management and drafting of proposals.
- Experience in international cooperation in Mediterranean and developing countries.
- Experience in securing funds and sponsorship for capacity-building and knowledge transfer activities.
