We are looking for a Junior Marine Environmental Consultant to join our team in Perth. At BMT you'll get to work on exciting and diverse project portfolios, including cutting-edge work in green hydrogen, offshore wind, ports and harbours, and water resources. BMT's Marine & Environment Consultants act as Project Managers and technical experts, working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality environmental projects. While the role is primarily office-based, there may be some opportunity for field work depending on project needs and individual interest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and deliver high quality marine impact assessments, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Support in project management activities across multidisciplinary environmental projects.
  • Be involved in conducting research and analysis on marine ecosystems, habitats, and species to inform conservation strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement marine management plans.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to promote sustainable practices.

About You

  • A degree in Marine Science or a related field (post-grad qualifications welcomed and ADAS qualifications).
  • Around 1–3 years of experience in marine ecology, fieldwork, data analysis and technical report writing.
  • Experience with environmental issues related to coastal or marine infrastructure development.
  • Working knowledge of Australian approvals processes, including the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA) and the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cwlth).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate science for diverse audiences.
  • A proactive, collaborative spirit and genuine passion for marine conservation.
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia.
