Hatfield is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist β Fisheries and Aquatics to become part of our Environmental Monitoring and Assessment team in Vancouver or Calgary.
Responsibilities
- Managing environmental effects monitoring programs, fish and fish habitat baseline surveys, mark-recapture studies, effectiveness monitoring of restoration/offsetting projects, species at risk assessments, and riparian vegetation inventories.
- Acting as primary client contact on proposals and projects.
- Preparing, submitting, and consulting on design documents/technical reports.
- Leading meetings/presentations with/to clients and regulators/interest groups.
- Preparing and managing project schedules and budgets.
- Providing technical expertise on environmental protection, assessment, permitting, and monitoring.
- Mentoring and advising technical staff.
- Leading business development activities, including actively promoting Hatfield's services to clients, strengthening existing corporate relationships, preparing technical and financial proposals, and client negotiations.
- Working in the field, occasionally in remote locations.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant environmental discipline (fisheries or aquatics).
- A relevant professional designation or eligible to apply.
- 7+ years of experience managing environmental studies focused on natural resource development and/or infrastructure projects.
- General knowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation and environmental impact assessment processes.
- A valid Canadian driver's license for the past three years, experience driving a pickup truck and the ability to meet the requirements for our third party automobile insurance policy.
