OceanHub Africa (OHA) is on a mission to inspire and support ocean-minded start-ups with the express aim of nurturing an environmentally conscious and profitable economy that effectively mitigates the effects of global warming as well as oceans' overexploitation and pollution throughout the African continent.

Your Role

To build a high quality, diverse (sector and geography) pipeline of blue tech startups and activate the alumni network for collaboration, dealflow and measurable outcomes. Through supporting startups in their entrepreneurial journeys through the provision of hands-on support in all aspects of startup business development, working with Engineers, Communications, etc.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification (bachelors) in business or similar.
• Post graduate qualifications would be an advantage.

Experience

• 3 years working with small entrepreneurial organisations or startups.
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset, analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Friendly, optimistic, go-getter and self-starter.
• Exceptional interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Experience in relationship management.
• Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and allocate resources effectively.
• Familiarity with startup operations, venture capital, impact investment.
• Effective communication skills - both written and spoken.
• Experience working with: Slack, Google Suite, Notion, Zoom, etc.
• Well-organized and structured approach to work.
• Knowledge of the blue economy and ability to converse in French would be an advantage.

Conditions

• The position is Cape Town-based with flexibility for some remote work.
• The position is contracted for 12 months.
• Paid leave in addition to public holidays (following the official South African calendar).
