In this role, the Marine Biologist will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Experience department, especially for all functions and activities related to marine and local biology to provide exceptional products and services within Six Senses brand operating standards and budget.

The role works strategically with the Experiences Manager to develop cohesive and productive goals for the department and establish procedures/guidelines to achieve them, supporting an overall consistency of the Company's vision, quality/standards and developing concepts consistent with brand identity.

Scope of Work

  • Keep abreast of industry trends and practices and update knowledge and skills to improve the product and service offering.
  • Focus on the rejuvenation of the experiences department with regards to marine and local biology.
  • Conduct environmental benchmarking, reporting, advising, and implementing of best practices.
  • Join local associations or organizations promoting marine life.
  • Conduct snorkeling and scuba diving trips and give presentations about sea and local ecosystem related issues.
  • Be aware and handle all biological and environmental issues of concern and assist in environmental monitoring, monthly data collection and processing and environmental assessments.
  • Products and services will be constantly assessed and reviewed to remain relevant, innovative and in keeping with Six Senses wellness and sustainability practices.
  • Rigorous adherence to LQA standards.
  • Responsible for an exceptional guest experience.
  • Effectively carry out service recovery or charge hosts to do so in the event of guest complaints.
  • Responsible for inspecting equipment on a regular basis and ensuring any maintenance and product improvements are actioned within the designated time frame.
  • Responsible for monthly inventory.
  • Follow pricing guidelines given set by the property.
  • Thorough knowledge of all facilities and services offered by the property.
  • Support updating guest history profile.
  • Deliver a crafted experience for all guests and foster a desirable place to work for all hosts.
  • A high standard of personal appearance, grooming and hygiene, plus comprehensive knowledge of safety, security and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure that interaction and communications between departments within the property are clear and effectively maintained to support the smooth running of the property.
  • Work closely with Experiences Manager in developing strategies and tactics which support revenue generation and profile-raising initiatives as documented in the marketing plan.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out ethically, honestly and within the parameters of local law.
  • Revise and control department's operational budget, ensuring all costs are continually monitored and controlled to drive profitability.
  • Prepare and submit legally required and confidential documentation related to the operation.
  • Complete accurately all corporate reporting requirements for the role.
  • Attend or conduct the designated meetings and briefings as instructed by the Manager.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
