Job Summary

The Marine Fisheries Research (MFR) program conducts community-based collaborative research and education, working directly with fishers and shellfish farmers primarily in the Cape Cod region.


Essential Duties

  • Coordinate and participate in field work and laboratory work on outer Cape Cod, primarily from Orleans to Provincetown.
  • Data entry and management of field notes.
  • Data management (Google Suite and Microsoft Office).
  • Take thorough notes in the field.
  • Perform preliminary data exploration and analysis.
  • Perform field work both on land and on sea.
  • Generate tables and figures for internal and external reports.
  • Maintain equipment, freezer, and video inventory.
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible and adapt to weather and personnel availability.

Prerequisites

  • B.S. in Marine Science or a related field.
  • Prior experience working on the water.
  • Data entry and data management skills.
  • Familiarity with and interest in science and policy related to marine fisheries.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift 50 and drag 100 pounds and comfort working outside or at sea for up to twelve hours.
  • US Driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • US citizenship or proper US work visas.
